Update November 2025

The building of the new community pavilion is well underway!

An open afternoon was held on 16th November inviting all those who had kindly donated money to have a look at how the work is progressing.

Below are a couple of photographs showing the inside of the pavilion as of mid November 2025 - first fix of the electrics has been done.

Whilst progress is now being made, there were some initial delays however, principally with the roof. There were some design issues, restrictions on working with the roof panels at height in high winds, and a delay in getting the insulation delivery because of work to repair electrical cables in Walnut Tree Road. More recently there was a delay in getting windows and doors delivered. Overall completion is now expected around the end of February with the old pavilion hopefully being demolished soon after that.

We have been been able to finance the kitchen and bar fit out, and audio-visual equipment, with tremendous support from the PSSC and these works have been included in the construction plan.

This has all been made possible by: a grant of £481k from the Football Foundation: a £400k long term loan by the Parish Council: £185k of S106 money from housing developments: generous donations and fund raising including and particularly through the PSSC: grants of £50k from NHDC, £12.5k from Rands Educational Foundation and £1k from HCC.

The Council would like to thank all of those people who have responded to our requests for donations/pledges. This generous support has made a big difference to our finances with about £100k raised including fund raising events. We still have a funding gap of c£15k and would very much welcome help to complete the funding. A topping out ceremony was held in September and was well attended, including by representatives from funders.

Our plan is to keep the existing pavilion open as far as possible while we build the new one. This will allow events to continue such as the fireworks and Beerfest t . However, we have restricted parking during the construction. We would encourage all to walk to the pavilion, if possible, during the construction, but for those driving to car share if possible, and for all to tolerate greater parking on roads during this time. Please be aware that there will be heavy construction traffic accessing the site, and of course the public must keep out of the fenced off construction site area. The footpath from Walnut Tree Road allows pedestrian access avoiding the construction traffic as far as possible.
