THE HERTFORDSHIRE (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WEST ROAD/HOLWELL ROAD,

PIRTON) ORDER 2021

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under

Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from

using that length of West Road/Holwell Road, Pirton from its junction with Royal Oak Lane

eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 222 metres (“the length of

Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via West Road, Shillington Road, Priors Hill, Hitchin Road, B655

Pirton Road, A505 (Upper Tilehouse Street/Old Park Road/Bedford Road), A600 Bedford

Road, Holwell Road, Pirton Road, Waterloo Lane and Holwell Road

or via Holwell Road, Waterloo Lane, Pirton Road, Holwell Road, A600 Bedford Road, A505

(Bedford Road/Paynes Park/Upper Tilehouse Street), B655 Pirton Road, Hitchin Road,

Priors Hill, Shillington Road and West Road.

The Order is needed because remedial works are proposed to be executed on or near the

length of Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 21 June 2021 for a period of up to 18

months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by

signs on or near the length of Roads.
